Outside my window: right now I'm in an office building with no windows, so outside my office door are cubes. This morning on my way to work, I rolled down my windows on the back roads. It wasn't sweltering or too muggy yet, it was just the right temperature to get some air flow into the car.
I am thinking: about my Gram. Hopscotch and I are headed to Cleveland on Friday to visit her. Our family matriarch has been diagnosed with bone cancer. She is in a Catholic hospice home and is comfortable there but we know this is close to the end for her. Even though she is 92 years old, I don't think any of us in our family ever thought about her not being around anymore. It's sad to think about, but at the same time, we're trying to think about all the wonderful years she has been around. Hopefully seeing a 14 month old tear around her room will bring a little joy to Gram's day.
I am thankful for: my healthy child. I have been following Diana at Hormonal Imbalances since I started thinking about having a baby in 2011. I've been rooting so hard for her and am devastated at the news she and her family received this weekend about their new little guy. I'll be keeping her family and little Kaden in our thoughts.
I am wondering: how I am going to handle working 5 days a week come September. Every summer, my company gives us Fridays off. We work our normal hours Monday through Thursday and get Friday as a freebie. It's like getting an extra month of vacation time a year. It's amazing and I have really enjoyed spending every Friday with my little girl. I'm dreading it, to be honest. I love that extra day of mommy and me time.
Kiddo wearing two hats (she HAS to wear her hat outside and HAS to be the one to put it on) and figuring out the Munchkin snack catcher. There are goldfish in there to enjoy on our walk home from the pool!
Last 3 purchases:
This Three Little Pigs toy for our flight on Friday. It was recommended by Mrs. Bee at Hellobee and a few other bloggers. I'm hoping Hopscotch likes it and it occupies even a few minutes of our flight time.
Entrance to Marbles Kids Museum (which is AWESOME, by the way) and fun "husband's away" groceries like Ben and Jerry's and clams - he can't eat either of them. :)
Fun at Marbles in "Toddler's Hollow" before Mom's phone died. Such a cool museum!
Dinner plans: I was just thinking that this morning. I'm not sure what tonight has in store...suggestions? 30 minute meals are what we do right now. I get home at 4:45 and we eat by 5:30.
Future plans I'm looking forward to: for better or worse, I am looking forward to seeing my family members this coming weekend. My cousins will be in town and I'm hoping to make the rounds with Megan so she can see her great aunts and uncles.
Kid funny: there is a lot of funny at our house right now. This weekend I found something fun. I was exhausted Saturday night so, I laid down on the playroom floor and closed my eyes for a few seconds while she played next to me. Apparently, this is not allowed. First, she grabbed my hair and tried to pull my head up. Then she poked at my face and pulled my glasses off. When that didn't get me up, she dropped toys on me and then mounted me like a horse and jumped on my back. I couldn't say no to that. :)
I am reading: an old Decker and Lazarus novel (Milk and Honey) that is on my Kindle. It is so old that the characters are talking about how their police station recently upgraded from rotary phones. HA!
In the kitchen: I made pasta with clams this weekend, it was delicious. I steamed the clams in butter, white wine and garlic. When they were done, I cooked the pasta in the wine sauce. I plopped the clams on the pasta and poured the wine sauce over everything. Then I dipped the clams in melted butter. Mmmmm. So good.
Watching: Game of Thrones! My husband and I are catching up. We're on Season 2 and have two episodes left. Last night we were left with a cliff hanger and wanted to watch the second to last episode of the season but knew if we did, we would want to watch the finale. We ended up going to bed and promising we would watch the last two episodes tonight. Yay!
On my frequent playlist: Pandora One. We paid for it. It is awesome. We have a computer hooked to our TV in the family room and always have something playing off Pandora. It's normally Disney Radio. Raffi Radio or Pitch Perfect. :)
Snacking on: nothing interesting. Pretzels, baked cheetos, diet coke. You won't find healthy treats on this blog. :)
Rest of day plans: working, lunch with a co-worker who is in town for a week (works in Canada) and hopefully it's cool enough for a stroller ride this afternoon.
