Thankfully, this week I'm feeling much better and have the urge to get it out there again. I figure since I missed more than just one week, I would do a full update in one post rather than try to drag these on. Week 17 was pretty uneventful. I spent the whole week looking forward to things to come in week 18!
Week 18 brought work travel. I flew to Tampa, FL for a few days to work with one of our customers. The work was easy and the customer was extremely nice, which was really helpful since I was worried about traveling while pregnant. I didn't have any trouble sleeping or keeping up with my duties while I was onsite. I was pretty happy with the overall trip. I got home on Wednesday night and on Thursday....
It was ultrasound day!!
Hops and I went to my OB's office at 8am and were immediately sent back to get the sonogram. Today was important to make sure everything looks good with the baby and to find out what we are having! The ultrasound tech was extremely professional and very good at her job. She has been doing it for 18 years! She explained everything she saw and even turned on the 3D machine to help us see our little one a little better. I must say, seeing a baby in there who is fully formed, even though she is about 5 1/2" long and 7 ounces is amazing.
We got to see all of the baby's body parts - brain, ears, heart (and all four chambers!!), toes, fingers, umbilical cord, spine and we watched her bladder fill up.

And finally, now that we know our baby is healthy and growing well (I am 18 weeks, 5 days - she shows 18 weeks exactly), we find out the really important stuff - boy parts or girl parts??
Woohooo! It's a girl!! It's a good thing she put that note there because I have no clue what we're looking at here!!
I know a lot of people are throwing parties and coming up with fun ways to tell their family and friends they are having a boy or a girl. My husband and I have no patience. We were sent out to the waiting room after the ultrasound to wait for a nurse. I immediately started texting my Mom and my friends. :) Yes, we did call people afterwards, as well but it was so hard to wait to tell everyone we were finally going to bring a girl into the Hopkins and Baldwin families! See, his sisters have 4 boys between them and my brother has a boy. Hooray for little girls!! The rest of that appointment was routine, so I won't bore you with those details.
Weeks 19 and 20 went by pretty quickly. We were both really busy with work and weren't doing a lot in the evenings, so we got to relax, which we both really needed. Last weekend, my Mom came into town, though and the three of us took Friday to go to the Kids Exchange. Kids Exchange is a huge sale that goes on in Raleigh at least twice a year. When I mean huge, I'm not kidding. It's held at the Jim Graham building at the NC State Fairgrounds. We were told to go early and go prepared to stand in line for a while.
We got there at 9am on Friday - the time it opened. The first building was filled with large items - swings, bouncy seats, excersaucers, pack n plays, changing tables, cribs, car seats and strollers! It was so overwhelming. We went in with a purpose, though - to buy things we were comfortable buying used. We ended up with a changing table, excersaucer and a bassinet. We spent $85 on all three! Hello, bargain central! They all look practically brand new, too. The changing table has a few marks on it but nothing a little touch-up paint won't fix!
The second room held...everything else. Imagine a rooe size of your high school filled with anything and everything a child could possibly want or need. Clothing, toys, games, books, movies, breastfeeding supplies, bottles, silverware, bedding, rocking chairs, rocking horses, and the list went on and on! Thankfully since it was a Friday, the place wasn't absolutely packed. We definitely got a good feel for everything, though and have a good idea what to look for next time! We ended up at the clothing and toys sections and bought ... a few things. :) I was also very thankful that Mom was there, if you get my drift. We did need both cars to get our loot home in!!

The best thing about the sale is, on Sunday, everything is half off! Hops and I went back on Sunday and picked up some clothes, bottles, a boppy and a few other things that were a GREAT deal at half off. So many of these things were in absolutely pristine condition, I was amazed. We did find two duds when we got home - two items with stains we don't think we can get out. We didn't see the stains in the building but...I think we can deal with that. Definitely, if you have kids or are going to have kids - GO TO THIS SALE!
Thankfully, these past few weeks, I have felt great. I guess that's normal in the second trimester. I can tell you it is definitely my favorite so far. I'm having mild cravings here and there (ice cream, Fruity Pebbles) but generally am just hungry and could eat anything! I do have to remember to take more food than normal with me to work now or else I get too hungry and then if I don't eat, watch out. Crazy, hungry, pregnant woman comes out. Feed Me, Seymour!

Week 20
Holy Moly. I look HUGE in this dress! I can't wait to put up my 21 week photo and compare it to this one - in my normal attire of tee-shirt and jeans.
How far along?: 20 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 17lbs at 18w5d. I'm sure I've gained a few more since because I've been eating a lot more recently!
The Bump: It's really there! I am obviously pregnant to anyone who looks at me now.
What I’m excited about/looking forward to: Continuing to feel great and, to be honest, to see how much I've gained when I go back to the OB at 22 weeks! We're also checking out a daycare on Monday morning that gets great reviews and the cost is...reasonable...for this area. Don't even get me started on how much daycare is!!
Maternity Clothes: Thankfully I still (for now) fit into the same maternity clothes. I bought a dress with 3/4 sleeves that I have worn a few times now. It's really comfy and it's been in the 60's here, so it's been a great addition to my wardrobe. A good friend of mine also shipped me some pants since she gave birth in December. All I have to say is Old Navy's low panel jeans are the absolute best!
Symptoms: I've been feeling really good but my belly is definitely growing, I've bumped into a couple of walls and doors I could get through in the past recently!
Belly Button in or out?: Very far in.
Food Cravings/Aversions: No aversions. I'm mostly happy if I'm just eating. I don't really care what it is. Pizza sounds good for lunch today, though...
Milestones: Finding out we're having a GIRL and passing the halfway mark! Woohoo!

The exersaucer was one of the best things we had for Dart. He LOVED it. Audrey wasn't so much of a fan. I think she was just to small. I loved the exersaucer because when he started to roll and all, I could put him in that and jump in the shower and know he wouldn't go anywhere. Looks like you guys did good on getting stuff. The 3D ultrasounds are so freaking looking. Although Audrey saw it and said "awe, how cute." I wonder if it's because to her generation those will be normal, where as for us, they are still somewhat "new".

Jill- I love the bump in that dress! Enjoy the 2nd trimester as it will go by fast. I also have that bassinet, loved it. Small enough to fit anywhere, but sturdy enough for baby!
You guys came home with so much baby loot! She's going to be one cute baby in all that pink, and I have to say, I love when people find out the baby's gender ahead of time. I was stuck wearing white, browns and tans as a baby, because my parents didn't find out what I was, and I guess gender neutral clothes were a lot more ugly back then!
