I washed and dried the strawberries and let them rest while I
I put a pot of water on the stove and brought it to a simmer. I placed the chocolate in a metal bowl and placed that on the simmering water. I stirred until the chocolate was smooth.
I thought a half of a bag of chocolate chips would do the trick, but I ran out when I had about 5 strawberries left. I melted another 1/4 of the bag to make sure I could cover all of the strawberries. I ended up with 16 - 12 went on the display tray.
After dipping all of the strawberries in the semi-sweet chocolate, I stuck the dipped strawberries in the fridge to harden. Meanwhile, I washed out the bowl and the spoon and melted some white chocolate.
Then came the tricky part. I took a fork and lifted some white chocolate out of the bowl and shook the fork back and forth over the strawberries. It left clumps in some places (I might have eaten the evidence before Mom and Dad got home). Most of them did come out pretty well, though.
After the shaking of the fork, I let them harden a bit more in the fridge and then moved them from the wax paper to a nice display tray. It's an understatement to say Mom was happy and pleased.
Chocolate + Strawberries + Red Wine = Yum. :)

I love Choco-covered strawberries! Reminds me so much of summer in Vancouver.. now that i'm in Singapore, strawberries aren't as sweet unless I buy the very expensive ones from Korea. =( Anyways, love how your strawberries came out! Sure they tasted yummy.
Lovely idea - simple but effective, and very attractive.
