Yes, that's a LOT of dirt.
Yikes!
Ohhh...it's painful just looking at it! Hops made some progress on Friday and today, he and I made a little bit more progress. We're trying to figure out if we he has moved 1/4 or 1/3 of it so far. I think we're only at about 1/4 of the way through.
Ps. Dirt is heavy.
From this angle it hardly looks like we've touched it!!
At least here you can tell we made SOME progress.
We're using our wheelbarrow and our neighbors four-wheel wheelbarrow which is heavier than it should be, but helps us get up the hill on the side of the yard. Our yard isn't big, it's only about 1/4 of an acre. I don't think it matters how big or small your yard is though, when you're moving 15 yards of dirt from one end to the other.
I made sure we had photographic proof that I actually do work in the yard...sometimes.
This guy's the true rock star of the yard in our family.
Yes, that's a garage sale going on in the background there. Today was our community wide yard sale, as well. I stood out there in the cold, trying to sell some crap we've been storing in the house, because I didn't want to just drop it off at GCF. We sold a good deal of stuff today - made $100! That's pretty good for a yard sale full of random household stuff. I think we're going to use it on our yard in one way or another. I want a decorative stone for the front yard where we can't grow anything. We're going to wait until we go to the Southport Spring Festival in late April to look for a homemade one there.
Shameless Plug: If you come to the festival, look for my Dad. He's a Kiwanis. He is darn proud of what he does for that group and he does it well. The group does great things for the community and they sell hot dogs at the festival as one of their fundraisers. Buy a hot dog. The guys who work the hot dog booth are awesome, they'll smile and laugh with you while you're waiting.
Dad would be happy you did.
(great pic, Leslie/Matt) :)
Back to the original purpose of this post (I know I'm randomly rambling...) We'll be continuing our work on the yard tomorrow and hopefully by then, we'll see a lot more progress. Hope for no sore muscles tomorrow!
